The Dragon Café Online

Monday 12th February

Mental Fight Club invite you to join us to come together as a community of creative minds and participate in a range of online arts activities.

Full Timetable:

12:45pm - 2:30pm: The Singing Group

In this session participants are invited to come together in celebration of the positive impact of singing and the voice. This session facilitated by our singing lead Vivien Ellis will be an energy filled journey through a mix of singing and vocal styles. From sea shanties, to old English chants, choral favourites written by the singing group and some improvised rounds and soundscapes. There is something in this session for everyone.
This session opens at 12:45pm for a chance to catch up and chat before we begin singing.

3:00pm – 4:00pm: Poetry with Angie Smith

Poetry with Angie Smith. We are again happy to be connecting with the fantastic Angie Smith for a poetry workshop. This week we will be looking at the poetic form of “Cento”… this is a compilation poem where participants will arrange lines from many poems into a new poem. Angie will be bringing lots of poems to the session for participants to use but she invites you to bring any of your favourite poems along to the session to also work with.

Angie Smith is the Founder of CreativityUnleashed, a not-for-profit charity that publishes the voices of young people, a Professor of English at Russell Sage College and an online creative writing teacher.

5:00pm - 6:00pm: Bridging “Us”  - A journey of creative discovery from South East Africa with Levar Polson.

It has always been a dream of Levar to travel through South East Africa and gain some understanding of the regions multitude of cultural stories, songs, and experiences whilst reflecting on what they mean to him as a young British born member of the black community. Levar has agreed to join us on zoom from Africa, mid-way through his journey, to facilitate a creative session based on the sharing of creative cultural learnings and experiences he has encountered.
