12:30pm - 2:00pm: Poetry with Emma McGordon

We are extremely happy to welcome back Emma to the Dragon Café for another of her Poetry session. Emma’s sessions are a fun, engaging and accessible way of exploring writing your own poetry. Emma’s use of free writing and poetic form makes this an ideal workshop for everyone, from beginners with no experience of writing poetry to seasoned writers. Emma a multi award winning writer and performer currently dividing time between their native West Cumbria and London. She is particularly interested in working-class narratives and voices. Much of her writing and spoken word is semi-autobiographical. Emma takes pride in being close to vulnerability and truth in her work.

You can see more about Emma and her work on her website here - https://www.emmamcgordon.co.uk/

2pm: Warm Food: This week at The Dragon Café we have free hot food available! This will be served at 2pm after the creative writing workshop.

2:30pm - 4:00pm: Construction Site: Come In!

We are really pleased to welcome back Shamira and Eugenie also known as “She Goat Theatre” for another fully accessible and engaging theatre session.

She Goat use music and singing, movement, drawing, and creative writing, to make and perform shows that are personal, political, goofy, and all about finding ways to be together.

With all sorts of theatre-making activities and games, we will explore recipes for building and imagine new structures…

How do you build things– a muscle, a skill, a meal, a party, your dreams?

How do animals and insects make their homes?

And what’s important about what we build– how long it lasts… who it makes a difference to… something unseen?

Let’s dig into this together!

What will it be like?

Sessions will be gentle, flexible, and shaped by the people in the room.

There will be a mix of solo activities and group activities, sometimes sitting down, sometimes moving around.

Who is it for?

-We would love to reach out to anybody living with experience of marginalisation.

-Folks who are not comfy or confident with Speaking English Language: this is for you, too! For these sessions, we are going to explore playing without relying on English language. We are excited to find out what that opens up and how we can bring other language speakers into the room.

-No drama or singing or arts experience necessary.

4:15pm - 5:15pmThe Dragon Café Singing Group

In this session participants are invited to come together in celebration of the positive impact of singing and the voice. This session facilitated by our singing lead Vivien Ellis will be an energy filled journey through a mix of singing and vocal styles. From sea shanties, to old English chants, choral favourites written by the singing group and some improvised rounds and soundscapes. There is something in this session for everyone.

5:30pm - 6:30pm: Danceworks

For our session this week it’s time for our uplifting and re-energising weekly dance. We have some great music and a mix of old and new dances to throw yourself into. As always, this session will be skilfully led by our resident chorographers Ariella and Renzo. No experience necessary, come along and join in.

All are welcome and we look forward to welcoming you to The Crypt at St Peters. See you on Monday!
