Monday 8th April

We are looking forward to welcoming you to The Dragon Café on Monday 8th April.

The Dragon Café will be in person at The Crypt at St Peters Church.

Join us as we spend the day getting creative with our special workshops!

12:00pm: Doors Open: Come and relax, catch-up and chat. Hot and cold drinks will be available.

12:30pm - 2:00pm Creative Writing with Wordsmiths

We are extremely happy to welcome back Naomi from Wordsmiths to the Dragon Café for another of her Creative Writing sessions. In this fun workshop, attendees are guided through structured writing activities and games to enable them to create and share a mixture of fictional and true stories based on their own experiences.

The group setting allows each person to firstly build confidence by sharing work that they have created from nothing, and secondly to build empathy towards other people in their community by hearing their stories in their words. The goal is to enable a creative way to communicate and to understand thoughts and ideas whilst having fun.

2pm: Hot Food: This week at The Dragon Café we have free hot food available! This will be served after the creative writing workshop.

2:30pm– 4pm:

She Goat: Theatre Session “Construction Site: Come In!”.

We are really pleased to welcome back Shamira and Eugenie also known as “She Goat Theatre” for another fully accessible and engaging theatre session.

She Goat use music and singing, movement, drawing, and creative writing, to make and perform shows that are personal, political, goofy, and all about finding ways to be together. With all sorts of theatre-making activities and games, we will explore recipes for building and imagine new structures…

  • How do you build things– a muscle, a skill, a meal, a party, your dreams?

  • How do animals and insects make their homes?

  • And what’s important about what we build– how long it lasts… who it makes a difference to… something unseen?

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t attended any previous sessions, each session is a new opportunity to join in and enjoy exploring theatrical creativity.

Let’s dig into this together!

Find out more about Eugénie & Shamira on their website at shegoat.co.uk or on IG @shegoatx

4:15pm– 5:15pm: Singing Group

In this session, participants are invited to come together in celebration of the positive impact of singing and the voice. This session facilitated by our singing lead Vivien Ellis will be an energy filled journey through a mix of singing and vocal styles. From sea shanties to old English chants, choral favourites written by the singing group and some improvised rounds and soundscapes. There is something in this session for everyone.

5:30pm– 6:30pm: Danceworks

For our session this week it’s time for our uplifting and re-energising weekly dance. We have some great music and a mix of old and new dances to throw yourself into. As always, this session will be skilfully led by our resident chorographers Ariella and Renzo. No experience necessary, come along and join in.
