Our Journey

Our Journey Animation

Originally started in 2019, this project adapted and changed to cope with the pandemic restrictions forced upon us all. The final result was “Our Journey” which brings together a creative collaboration of Dragon Café Patrons with skilled and supportive artists, merging artwork created by patrons, with animation and a song written and performed by The Dragon Café Singers led by Vivien Ellis. This was premiered at our live Dragon Café event on the 4th April at Streatham Space Project.

We would like to extend our great thanks and appreciation to our patrons for all their hard work and dedication to creating each element of this project. We would also like to thank Vivien Ellis, Mark Elliott and Glenn Keiles for their work, help and support throughout this whole project.

Co-production and collaboration with a diversity of artists and practitioners with lived experience has always been central to the Mental Fight Club approach. Through the development and delivery of our projects, we have partnered with a great number of artists and practitioners to deliver thousands of hours of creative activities.

This project was made possible by the financial support provided by The Wellcome Trust. This funding has enabled Mental Fight Club to expand and broaden the scope of the projects we deliver to incorporate the views of participants in research on the power of artistic expression to improve mental wellbeing. We are proud and excited to be able to support the practice of artists with lived experience up and down the country.

We are excited to announce that Our Journey was shown as part of the The Shawna Shea Film Festival on Thursday 22nd September 2022.
