The Looking Glass Project

2021-2022

The Looking Glass Project Oxford

Mental Fight Club were approached by a group in Oxford who wanted to recreate a space much like The Dragon Café. Their aim was:

‘To create an independent, peer-led, safe and supportive place that is friendly, relaxed, creative and non-judgemental. It would be a space mainly for people who have experienced mental distress and their supporters, family and friends but where other members of the community would be welcomed too. People would just be valued for who they are, where they could meet, mix and socialise with others whilst opportunities to be creative would be on offer to explore and discover things through music, song, drama, art, poetry and discussion.’ AH 2020

With funding from The Wellcome Trust, Mental Fight Club was able to mentor and support The Looking Glass Project through a series of “Alices Tea Parties”. These parties were a great success and now the group is aiming to set up their own charity.
